Media Man Speaks Out Against Cyberbullys And Cyber Criminals...
The internet can be a wonderful place for learning, fun, relationships and even business development, but there's are a number of important things to be aware of.
Australian based media agent, gaming and political commentator Greg Tingle is all too aware of the good, the bad and the ugly of the internet.
Most people know Greg as a publicist, media agent and internet portal developer. He cut his teeth in freelance journalism some 10 years ago, but imbraced the internet agent and world of e-commerce on the web, building up a impressive portfolio of over 30 website portals, while also creating and breaking media campaigns across Australia and the world.

Today Media Man contacted us and advise that they are supporting tomorrow’s National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence, and Gambling911 is delighted to help spread the word.
A Media Man spokesperson said 'We are proud to do our modest little bit to help make people aware of some of societies dangers. Bulling, online and offline are huge problems in society. We experienced a small amount of bullying at school, and have have also received some cyber bulling on the internet. The internet bullying stems from us reporting a criminal to the Australian Federal Police and InterPol many years ago, after we discovered an apparent businessperson was not so much as a businessperson, but a criminal involved in ID theft, I.P trademark infringements, possession of stolen property, credit card skimming, defamation, cyber stalking, cyber squatting, brand hijacking and more. The internet can be a great place to learn and conduct business, but we recommend that some research be done on individuals before doing business with them, meeting or otherwise. Parent and guardian supervision is also a good idea for persons under the age of 18. Even adults and smart business can be fooled from internet scams and other net nasties, so that shows just how important it is that kids get supervision. Minors should not have access to adult material like pornography or play for money games. Adults can of course make their own minds up as to if they - themselves wish to view adult material or gambling websites. It's been proven that internet filters do not work 100%. In the school playground, teachers can't be everywhere at once either. If something is going on that shouldn't be, we recommend you tell a trusted friend and a law enforcement agency, like the NSW or Australian Federal Police for example. We haven't agreed with every single message out of the ACMA over the years, but we sure agree with this one".

‘Stand up and speak out against cyberbullying’ — ACMA supports National Day Against Bullying and Violence
The role of the bystander, the person who witnesses bullying behaviour, is the key focus for tomorrow’s National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence.
‘Bullying is not just an individual issue — peers, parents and schools have a positive and practical part to play – indeed, a role to discharge - in ending bullying and finding solutions,’ said Australian Communications and Media Authority Chairman, Chris Chapman.
The ACMA’s key messages for a bystander witnessing cyberbullying are:
-Don’t just stand by. Speak out!
-Protect and support your friends
-Tell a trusted adult
To mark the ‘Bullying No Way!’ day, the ACMA is providing a suite of lesson plans for teachers across Australia on how to prevent and manage cyberbullying, as well as staging a National Cybersmart Hero event created to tackle cyberbullying.
Cybersmart Hero is a one-hour, online in-school activity for students in grade five and six that addresses the responsibilities of the people in the best position to influence cyberbullying —the bystander. The lesson plans bring the discussion into the open and encourage students to tell their parents or teachers.
‘Confident bystanders are important because bullies like an audience –whether it’s online or in the school yard - but they are most likely to stop when peers show disapproval,’ said Mr Chapman. ‘With bullying affecting nearly a third of Year Four to Nine students, encouraging young people to report bullying and stand up for their friends should be a potent peer to peer deterrent.’
